Episcopal Parish Network is honored to share the the fifth and final keynote conversation featured at the 2023 Annual Conference in Jacksonville.
Jon Meacham, Canon Historian of Washington National Cathedral, award-winning author, teacher, and thought leader with his friend, the Very Reverend Randolph (Randy) Hollerith, Dean of Washington National Cathedral, share an insightful and thoughtful conversation and call to action at EPN’s 38th Annual Conference.
Listen as Jon challenges all the faithful to “stop lamenting and start leading” to protect our democracy and strengthen our social contract during this fraught moment. Randy and Jon explore the reality that while we can separate church and state, religion and politics are much more difficult to separate because both are, at their core, about people.
Drawing on the experiences and wisdom of Lincoln, Johnson, Bush the Elder, and Lewis, Jon and Randy conclude that “what’s good for a congregation is good for the country in terms of habits of the heart and mind.” And, in a call to action, Jon charges everyone to “preach it!”
Enjoy this keynote conversation again and share with friends, family, and colleagues.
Planning is already underway for the 39th Annual Conference in Houston. Mark your calendars for March 6 – 9, 2024 as EPN gathers again for expansive learning and a healthy dose of hope.
