Assistant Priest
FULL TIME | Christ Church, Georgetown | Washington, DC
Date posted: April 8, 2024
Christ Church, Georgetown, an historic and vibrant parish in the heart of Washington, DC, seeks a full-time priest, newly ordained, or with up to five years’ experience, to collaborate with the Rector, Vestry and Staff in carrying out the parish’s mission, ministry, and vision.
Founded in 1817, Christ Church has an average Sunday attendance of 400 across four services and a staff of 11, including three full-time priests. Our worship style is traditional, reverent, and grounded in the Anglican tradition; and we are well known for our excellent music program, which includes evensong two or three times per month during the program year. True to the principles of its founders, Christ Church is politically neutral, and is a congregation of diverse views, all of which are respected.
While the successful candidate’s ultimate focus will match personal gifts with the needs of the parish, we envision that specific duties will include:
-Share in leading worship, preaching and the administration of the sacraments with the Rector, Associate Rector, and Lay Assistant Minister
-Share in the pastoral care of the congregation
-Share in planning, organization and envisioning for the Staff Team and the Parish
A portfolio of specific areas of responsibility will be assigned by the Rector, depending on the priest’s gifts, calling and experience, from a selection of the following: Evangelism, Adult Formation, New Members Ministry, Liturgy Preparation, Mission and Outreach, Parish Life Development, and the development of Parish Groups. Experience and calling in all these areas to be included in any application.
To apply please submit the following via email to Duane Roth, Director of Administration (jobs@christchurchgeorgetown.org): Cover letter, OTM Profile, resume, two sermons (audio/video links preferred). Applications will be accepted until April 30, 2024.
